Intensive Community Support

Our Intensive Community Support program, is designed to provide essential mental health services to children and youth aged 0 to 21. Our team, composed of clinicians, behavioral health advocates, and peer navigators, offers assessment, treatment, and support in an outpatient setting.

Referrals can come from various sources, including schools, parents, and community partners. Our services are personalized, including individual and family therapy, case management, rehabilitation, medication support, and crisis intervention. Our main goal is to reduce stress and enhance family connections, resilience, and overall well-being in homes, schools, and communities.

Importantly, our services are available to children and youth with Medi-Cal benefits, ensuring accessibility to quality mental health care. Sierra Vista is dedicated to making a positive impact in our community by providing vital support to those who need it most.

Eligibility: This program is available to children and youth ages 0 to 21 currently receiving Stanislaus County Medi-Cal benefits who qualify for specialty mental health services.

Cost: There is no cost to participating families. Children without Stanislaus County Medi-Cal who are adopted or in foster care and reside in Stanislaus County may be eligible to receive services.

Kirk Baucher Non-Public School

Our Kirk Baucher Non-Public School, offers specialized education and mental health support for children diagnosed as severely emotionally disturbed. Our commitment extends to both local community students and those in our Residential Program, providing an environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth.

Our comprehensive program includes full academic assessment, specialized learning disability curriculum, vocational education, crisis intervention, engaging activities, and family counseling. Tailoring instruction to each student’s unique needs, from kindergarten to eighth grade, is our priority. We also focus on building self-esteem through social skills training, art, music, drama, and community outings.

For students needing specialized mental health services, our clinical staff, supervised by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, offers counseling and case management. The seamless coordination between our residential and non-public school services ensures consistent therapeutic programming, facilitating a smoother transition to a less restrictive environment.

Enrollment is initiated by the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) team, which determines the most appropriate educational placement, typically from kindergarten to eighth grade. Importantly, our program is cost-free to families, with funding provided by the school district and the Special Education Local Planning Area. Civil Right Procedure

Eligibility: Educational placement in the non-public schools is determined by the intervention early prevention (IEP) team to best meet students educational needs.

Cost: There is no cost to families of children in this program. The costs are covered through collaborative agencies. Funding is provided through SELPA’s or Public Schools.

Each Family Resource Center is unique based on the community it serves. Below are the programs that are offered at the various Family Resource Centers. Call the Family Resource Center of interest to see which programs they offer.

Community Services Provided

Parent Education Support Groups

The resource centers offer a variety of parent education and support groups in both English and Spanish. Topics include positive discipline, working with difficult children school readiness, child development and well-being topics, etc. Social skills groups for children are provided at the same time as the parent education classes. Call for a schedule of classes.

Mental Health services are available to eligible children and adults. These services include assessment, individual and family counseling.

Promotoras serve as a bridge between healthcare institutions, professional providers, and community residents in need of healthcare services.

The resource centers can offer referrals and link­ages to services such as housing assistance, food, diapers, support groups, prenatal care, medical services, and counseling. These services are avail­able to everyone in the community.

The clothes closet provides clothing for children and parents. This was designed to help families provide adequate clothing for their children, as well as cloth­ing that may be needed for parents who are return­ing to the workforce. The eligibility for use of the clothes closet is determined on a case-by-case basis. Access is available by appointment.

Promotoras serve as a bridge between healthcare institutions, professional providers, and community residents in need of healthcare services.

The resource centers provide a variety of health education outreach services that includes fitness and nutrition classes, help with insurance enrollment, Cal Fresh (food stamps) application assistance, and community health fairs.

The resource centers offer activities that help prepare children and their parents to have success in the educational system. These services include family literacy and English as a Second Language classes.

The goal of the Youth Assessment Center (YAC) is to prevent youth from formally entering the justice system and connecting them to resources that will help them be resilient, responsible, and positively involved in the community.

Youth are referred to the YAC program through the Stanislaus County Juvenile Probation Department. YAC works in partnership with Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Prevention and Early Intervention, Juvenile Probation Department, and Sierra Vista Child & Family Services Family Resource Centers.

Eligibility: Our services are open to the public.

Cost: No cost for any services. Funding is provided through Stanislaus County Children & Families Commission, Kaiser Permanente, Stanislaus County Community Services Agency and Behavioral Health and Recovery Services.
